A New Year and More

I just heard from Michele that she received the Christmas Fair Squares I sent her. It is a freebie from Just Cross Stitch called "Vinney Ornament".



It is stitched on 32ct. Little Boy Blue Linen with DMC as charted. I knew that Michele loves Reindeer so I thought this was a cute one to add to her collection.


Well, I had to keep up with my tradition of starting a new project on New Year's Day and this year I chose Christmas at Run Hawk Hollow. Here is what I started with on New Year's Day. I am using DMC and stitching on 32ct. Lambswool Belfast linen.



Here is what I have done as of today.



I am going to stitch 1 block a month. I have so many other things I want/need to do also.


Now...I am a little tardy on my goals.

I kept my December goals very simple as I knew I wasn't going to be stitching too much.

I did mail out my Blogoversary box of cotton goodies and according to the post office, it was delivered yesterday. However, I have not heard if it was received yet. When I do, I will share the contents.

Happy Birthday Michele!

Last fall, I decided to join the Stitching Bloggers Birthday Club for 2009. This is where you are assigned a fellow stitching blogger and when it is their birthday you send them a gift.

Of course I had already over-committed myself for January (calling it my last hurrah for exchanges), and my birthday girl, Michele, was the first one for the new year, in fact, it is today, January 11. Oh well, I am done now and I don't have to worry about it.

Michele was very fun and easy to buy for. Her wishlist and blog is loaded with the things that she likes. Coffee, Nascar, Coffee, Stitching, and more Coffee. I had already decided to do mailart for my birthday partner and that is what I did.

These pictures were taken before I took it to the post office. Jump over to Michele's blog or the Stitchers Birthday blog to see it after the stamps are put on and it is hand stamped. It is always an interesting experience to take something like this to the post office. LOL!

One of the things Michele collects is reindeer. So for the front I stitched one from Daffycat, I just flipped it so it is facing the other way.


On the back, I stitched all of the things she loves. The Nascar logo I created myself. The coffee items, scissors and "CROSS STITCH" are from Cross Stitch Happy and the other stitching items are from a Brittercup Design, "I Love to Stitch".


I was quite pleased with it and I think Michele was very surprised.

Of course I sent Michele a separate box of birthday surprises--a pattern from her wish list, Starbucks coffee, a Starbucks coffee mug and some Starbucks cookies, socks that have coffee words/icons on them, a notepad and pen with coffee words on them, a thread counter, a salt and pepper shaker set (she collects these too!), floss bobbins and a ring, a plastic organizer box (great for buttons) and some hand sanitizer.

Gifts Received

Over the past few weeks I have received several gifts in which I have been negligent in posting. I apologize for not being more timely on these.

First, I received this gorgeous fiber from Michele. Michele sent me some hand-dyed silk called "Winter Berry". It is beautiful. I will have to find something special to stitch with this. Thank you Michele!


Then, I received this beautiful tatted heart ornament from Cathy B. Her mother, who is 76 years young, made it. It is just gorgeous. My grandmother tatted and I do regret to this day not learning this beautiful art from her. Thank you Cathy!


And, today, I received a pattern from AmySC, that I think, was made just for me.


Can't wait to stitch this beauty up. I can use some of the lovely fibers I have received in exchanges. Thank you Amy!
