Last Two Stitches for 2013

This was my 18th year in making a Christmas ornament for my godson, Jacob. He is a senior in high school now and was the captain of his cross country team. I tweaked a Prairie Schooler, "Eleven Lords a Leaping" pattern to make a running Santa. I was very happy with how it turned out and Jacob loved it.

I also have been making an ornament for my son. This one I just finished today. I never thought I would stitch on perforated paper again, but it was actually fun. I really enjoyed it. The best part about it is the finishing. It doesn't require much.

For quite a few years, I have been starting a new project on New Year's Day. I have decided to try something different this year. I am going to stitch an ornament on the 1st of every month and work on WIPs in between. Maybe an occasional new start, but I have quite a few WIPs that I really would like to finish.

A Fun Finish and a Great Mail Day!

I saw a very cute idea over on Marie's blog some time ago and have wanted to do it. I finally found the doll and stitched it up. I did ask Marie if she didn't mind if I borrowed her idea.

This was so fast and FUN! I am going to find more of these dolls to do more like this. This one will be a Christmas gift.


I received a wonderful package in the mail today from my stitching friend, CathyB. It as a lovely birthday present.



It is a pincushion in an old mason jar lid with a piece of her mother's tatting on top. I love the bright colors! It is very pretty! Thank you Cathy!


I also received the long awaited Part 1 of the La-D-Da Sampler, which I had ordered quite awhile ago...way before I swore to stitch from my stash only. I already have started and can't wait to see how this progresses!

A Couple of Finishes to Share

Today, I finished my October ornament for the 2009 Christmas Challenge. It is the 2009 Santa from Prairie Schooler.


It is stitched on 32ct. Raw Belfast with DMC as charted. The back has the same fabric as shown in the background. I am going to be making a few more of these for Christmas.


Sheril received my exchange for the HoE beCAUSE It's Pink exchange today. I stitched Prairie Schooler's Pink House (Stitch to Win) design, and made a scissor fob and matching floss tag.


The fob is stitched on 40ct. (over 2) and the floss tag is stitching on 32ct. (over 2) with DMC as charted.

I also sent Sheril some pink goodies.


I hope Sheril likes her exchange, it was a fun one.

September's Pink Stitch

I just finished my pink stitch for September. This was such a fun and very quick stitch. It is Prairie Schooler's "Stitch to Win" (Pink House). It is stitched on 28ct. Antique White Cashel Linen with DMC as charted. I finished it as a floss tag and am thrilled with the results.

UPDATE: I have had several inquiries about the heart eyelets. I get them at Michaels in the Scrapbook area. They come in a pack of white, red and pink hearts.


Unfortunately I don't have any pink rings and I'm not sure if they make them in pink. I might have to get my pink spray paint out. Where is David when I need him? LOL!

I've been getting alot of stitching done lately and am happy about that. I'll be getting alot more done as my hours at work are being cut for the next 3 months. I have to take 7 full days off and will have multiple weeks with 4 hours less, all with no pay. Good thing I have plenty of stash! Monday is my first day off and plan on doing some finishing.

Fair Squares for April

April K. has received the squares I sent her for Round 14 for the Fair Square exchange.

From studying her blog, I could tell that she was a big fan of Halloween, so I decided to stitch a Halloween design. It is Prairie Schooler's "Night Owl" from the 2008 Just Cross Stitch Halloween issue. It is stitched on 32ct Lambswool with DMC as charted.


This was a fun stitch and I hope April likes them!

A Couple of Exchanges to Share

I participated in a Secret Sisters Christmas Exchange that was on the Legacy Board. I had Valeri's name and just heard that she received my package.


I sent Valeri the Holiday box of DMC Floss, a thread counter, a package of needles, thread heaven, a snowman photo holder (which makes a great pattern holder) and a sample of gloves in a bottle. It sounds like she was pleased with it.


Over on the Make A Wish, Amy wished for a smalls done in redwork. I chose to do a biscornu. I stitched the February Heart from "A Prairie Year" by Prairie Schooler. I had to adjust the pattern a little to make room for the button. It is stitched on 28ct. Antique White Lugana with DMC Variations #4210. I was very pleased in how it turned out.




Well, that is all I have for now. I need to go do some serious stitching.
