Fob-u-Less Frenzy

In an earlier post I talked about my Gingher Designer scissors. I am going to make a scrapbook of them so they were gathered up for photos.

Now mind you, I do not own all of them. There are some that I do not have.

I decided that I can't wait for 2012 to start my fob project. Last night I had an open window of time so I decided to get started. I am going to do these in chronological order. My oldest one is "Cheetah", I already have a fob for this one, thanks to Chris, one of my stitching buds. And now I realize I should have a picture of it but I don't. I will next post.

The next one is "Katelynn", which came out in 2002. Here is what I came up with for Katelynn.

Bloom
Lizzie Kate
28ct. Graziano home-dyed pink
DMC #333, 915, 3354, 3787
Date started stitching: 12/5/2011
Date finished stitching: 12/5/2011
Date finishing completed: 12/6/2011

What do you think? I like it! I tweaked the height a bit so the design would be 36 x 36. I had wanted to use just plain Pink Graziano, but I was out. Since I am all about using stash I already have, I settled on this home-dyed piece.

My Other Pastime...
I had some interest in seeing my advent scarf. Here is a photo of Days 1 through 5.

I am learning alot doing this and am very pleased with the results so far. I have always loved projects with a variety of things going on.

Anyway, that's it for today. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Stitching :)

More to Share...

Just two days and I already have alot to share!

First, as you probably already know, October is Breast Cancer awareness month. Annemiek over on Once Upon a Stitch wrote a post about pink threads. She is asking people to leave comments about their favorite pink thread and is going to donate 25 eurocents for each comment to Pink Ribbon. I encourage everyone to do this. If you know anyone who has gone through this, it is a terrible disease.

I participated in Round #26 of the Fair and Square. Marie W. was my partner and here is what I stitched for her.

JBW Designs
French Apple
32ct. Natural Lite Belfast linen
GAST Cherry Wine

And here are the squares I received from Marie.

They are very stunning! Marie says this is from a charted folk designs book by Dover. They are lovely and I love the thread choice too! Thank you Marie.

And last but not least, and I can't believe I forgot to share this on my last post...the new Gingher scissors...Tessa! I got mine on Sunday. This one is a little retro looking.

Now, we had heard that this was going to be Gingher's last designer scissors. However, the packaging is a little different and it says on it "Manufactured for Fiskars". Not sure what this means, if anything. Only time will tell.

Well that's it for now. Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Happy Stitching :)

Where Did Alicia Come From?

Scissors. Gingher Scissors. Gingher Designer Scissors. OMG!

What is it with these that we go to the extremes to get? Why do we have to have them? Not sure but another one made an appearance today in this part of the world.

My friend, Joanus, called me from her Joann's and said that they had Gingher Alicia scissors. We knew about the ones coming next month but not this one! They were not on sale and she only had a few coupons. I said I would be right over. Jackie got there before me and purchased 3 pair for our group. I got out there and met her in the store and when we were standing there planning our action, I was examining the scissors. What? Could it be? YES! These Alicia's have peacocks feathers on them! Outstanding! Needless to say I was so very excited. Then Joan remembered that Joann's honors their sales 7 days before they start. She checked with a clerk and yes, we didn't necessarily need coupons for them. Hot-diggity-dog! I knew then for sure I was getting both the 4" and the 8". Did I say I was very excited? We briefly looked around for a couple of things and checked out. We managed to get scissors for our whole group.

I tried to do a closeup so the feather would show better.

Whew! What a whirlwide afternoon. I am very excited.

Have a great day!

Another Scissors

The long-awaited, highly anticipated "Sonia" Gingher scissors are out. I got mine yesterday.

They look pretty much like the pictures I had seen on the internet previously. Not too much variance on this one.
-- * -- * -- * --

Today my mom would have been 82. Her first birthday she's not here happens to be on a Thursday, her favorite day of the week. She called Thursday's "maids day off". She cleaned on Tuesdays and Fridays and did laundry/ironing on Mondays and Wednesday. So on Thursdays she usually went "bumming", aka a trip to the knitting store. LOL! Happy Birthday Mom! I miss you lots.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

ELLA

Yesterday, Joan and I went to Joann's to get just a couple of things. As we were walking through the store, we found these.

A new gingher scissors called Ella, which are black and white.

We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sonia, which has been talked about for months. We had not heard a word about Ella. They only had 4. They seem to be scarce. After calling all local Joann's and even one up in St. Cloud, we were able to get 4 more--1 for everyone one in our stitching group.

A New Scissors

Yet, another Gingher Designer scissors is out--Charlene. It just happens to be purple so how could I not love it.

Thank you Jackie for doing the coordinating on this. I appreciate it!

Weekend Update

I can't believe the weekend is over already. I probably say that every Sunday night. I didn't get too much stitching in this weekend as there was too many other things going on.

I did do my Sunday Ackworth Friendship square, though. This is square #8.

Now I only have 4 left. YAY!

I saw a very cool idea over on Staci's blog. Staci is quite the knitter and knits alot of socks. Instead of putting these socks away in a drawer, she puts them in a basket. I thought that was very cool. I do not knit, but thanks to my mom, I have quite a few pair of knitted wool socks. I didn't have a basket, but I have this cute little bucket that Joan gave me at our retreat.

I think I have more, but this is all I could locate right now.

And, last but not least, I did get a Gingher Mia this last week.

This one kind of reminds me of a comforter that my dad had. I posted it here with a part of the scissors that my mom found in his belongings.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Got Scissors?

About 2 weeks ago at our weekly Friday night stitching extravaganza at my good friend Joans, we were feeling like we needed a little scissor fix. There hadn't been any new Gingher's for quite some time. We decided to contact Mike & Carol's online store about the Premax scissors. Needless to say, here is what I own now.

The one on the far right still in the package, I did already have. Now I have all 6 Premax scissors. And wouldn't you know, as soon as we placed the orders for these scissors, these came out.

These are the new Gingher Criss scissors that just came out last week. They are a Joann exclusive and they aren't even at all the Joann's yet. My friend Joan, had to go across town to get these for our stitching group. Thank you Joan!

So now, I need to get some fobs made. This weekend I stitched Brightneedle's "Pretty in Pink" and changed the colors to fit one of the Premax's. This is my pink stitch for the month.

It is stitched on 40ct Ivory (over 2) with DMC. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Becky's Ornament
I heard from Becky yesterday, the she received my ornament for our ornament swap.

This is Lizzie Block Flip Its--December. It is stitched on 32ct Lambswool Belfast linen with DMC floss as charted. I remember Becky saying on her blog awhile back that next Christmas she is going to decorate with gingerbread boys so that is why I decided on this one.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a wonderful Easter. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

A Big Emma Too? Why Not!

My initial plan was to buy both the 4" and 8" Emmas when they came out as the name is dear to my heart. But when I went there earlier in the week, I wasn't really sure if I needed both of them.

But of course I have thought about it ever since and Michael's did have a 50% off coupon, so...

I am now the proud owner of both the 4" and 8" Emma's!

I Got an Emma!

I am so excited!

I stopped at my Joann's on the way home from work today and bought myself the 4" Gingher Emma's. I have been anxious for these to come out as Emma was my grandmother's name.
