Fun Stuff to Share!

First, I have to talk about the weather...just a little. It has been so hot and humid--as it has almost everywhere! Yesterday we went up to a friend's cabin, just about 70 miles northeast from here. It was CHILLY! I had to wear a jacket! It was a good chilly though. It just really felt good to be outside and to breathe clean fresh air!

While the boys went out fishing, my sister-in-law and I went in to town. We went to this cute little "General Store". It was fun to just browse. However, I did find something to buy.

A scissors! What else! I finally found one of these in purple. WHOO-WHOO!

Last Thursday, I had an outing with Joan and Cathy. Of course, we went to our LNS. We met another friend there, Judy, who comes down periodically from up north to go to her not-so-LNS.

While we were there, the mailman brought these...

I stitched it up last night after getting home from the lake. Today I did the finishing.

I just LOVE this scissors on this fob! Imagine that! Now there is just winter left in this fob series.

Today, I ran to Joann's to get the ribbon for my fob and I found this.

I had heard that these were coming out and am very excited to get one. Here is what is inside the pouch.

I love this! Plus, I had a 50% coupon.

Kathy A. asked what I do with all my pink stitches. I currently have them in my "pink basket" in my bedroom. However, I have kind of outgrown the basket so I am going to have maybe archive some of the pieces.

On my previous post, there were some requests for the freebies. The one from Carol D., the 2 red birds in the tree, is here.

The other one, Love, I don't think is available online. I would be happy to share it with anyone if you want to send me a message.
UPDATE:
Christine found this for us. Love is available here. Thank you Christine!

That's all I have for today. Looking forward to stitching while watching the Twins and Vikings tonight!

Happy Stitching :)

It's Still Spring

On Wednesday, my friend Joan and I took a trip to our LNS. We both bought the Lizzie Kate's Spring Fob kit. After having some lunch and a quick trip to Joanns, we went back to her house and stitched them up. Today I did the finishing on mine.

The kit included the pattern, the beads, the scissors and the fabric. The linen (yellow) that was included, is enough for maybe 2-3 more fobs so I decided to use a different color for the back. I used pink and stitched "Lizzie Kate Spring 2010" on the back. These kits are numbered so I also added "No. 15 of 1000". I was very excited when Joan located what seems to be the same ribbon that is shown in the picture. After putting the 2 sides of linen together I added the rouched ribbon. I love how it turned out!

On the non-stitching front...I was a victim of a RIF (Reduction in Workforce) this past week. Wednesday was my first day of joining the "unemployed" rank. This is the 3rd time I have been laid off in my working career and it has always been for the better. I am trying to be optimistic this time also. On the bright side--I will be doing LOTS of stitching!!!

I have some finishing that I want to do this weekend--some framing and some hand finishing. Hopefully I will have some things to show in a few days.

Have a great weekend and Happy Stitching!

Got Scissors?

About 2 weeks ago at our weekly Friday night stitching extravaganza at my good friend Joans, we were feeling like we needed a little scissor fix. There hadn't been any new Gingher's for quite some time. We decided to contact Mike & Carol's online store about the Premax scissors. Needless to say, here is what I own now.

The one on the far right still in the package, I did already have. Now I have all 6 Premax scissors. And wouldn't you know, as soon as we placed the orders for these scissors, these came out.

These are the new Gingher Criss scissors that just came out last week. They are a Joann exclusive and they aren't even at all the Joann's yet. My friend Joan, had to go across town to get these for our stitching group. Thank you Joan!

So now, I need to get some fobs made. This weekend I stitched Brightneedle's "Pretty in Pink" and changed the colors to fit one of the Premax's. This is my pink stitch for the month.

It is stitched on 40ct Ivory (over 2) with DMC. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Becky's Ornament
I heard from Becky yesterday, the she received my ornament for our ornament swap.

This is Lizzie Block Flip Its--December. It is stitched on 32ct Lambswool Belfast linen with DMC floss as charted. I remember Becky saying on her blog awhile back that next Christmas she is going to decorate with gingerbread boys so that is why I decided on this one.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a wonderful Easter. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

Welcome Home Kelsey!

After 5 years of being in the Marines, Kelsey, daughter of MamaJoan, came home FOR GOOD! Kelsey has been in various places from Japan and back, and even found her soul mate, Donncuann, who is now her husband--it turned out the Marines weren't all that bad for her! LOL!

Anyway, the special gift I made this week was for Kelsey. She is a cross stitcher (YAY!) so I made her a special scissor fob.

This is a free design from Glory Bee, however, the pattern says "Home Sweet Home" and I changed it to say "There's no Place Like Home". I though it was more fitting. On the back (no picture), I stitched her initials and Jan 09. I am so happy for her and her hubby that they are finally home and back into the real life.

I noticed on someone else's blog that it is time for goals already--YIKES! I hadn't even thought about them yet. I will have to come back later and post them. I first need to get an exchange out this morning.

Have a great weekend!

More Exchanges

Yesterday I saw that Lisa received my Winter ornament for the ASOE Ornament Exchange. I stitched "Winter Globe" by gazette94. It is stitched on 36ct. white linen with DMC floss, GAST and DMC white petite Mill Hill beads. It is finished with DMC perle cotton #12 white. Okay, I wish I would have noticed that big stain on the quilt when I was taking the picture--DUH!

In yesterday's mail, I received my fob for the Tiny Treasure Exchange. It was from Sabine in Belgium. There are 2 Sabine's on this exchange blog so I'm not sure which one it is.

Sabine didn't give me any details on the fob but it is gorgeous! It is stitched over 1 with what looks like 3 different overdyed threads. It is so delicate looking. I love it! Thank you Sabine.

I am sloooooowly getting better after falling the other day. I did go to work today but only lasted 2 hours. I just could not sit in the chair comfortably. We did not have much work anyway, so it was all good. I'm hoping with the weekend and all, I will be much, much better come Monday.

I am planning on going to my Friday Night Stitch Fix at my BFF, Joan's. I will be delivering my special gift I made this week. I will share tomorrow.

Happy Stitching! :)

I am FOB-u-lous Today!

You just can't believe how perfect and beautiful of a fob I received today in the mail from my Hooked on Exchanging Scissor Fob Exchange. It is a purple peacock. I absolutely love it! I am so excited (just ask my husband and son). And the finishing, it is extraordinaire! I love it so much, I placed it in the sidebar on my blog.

I also received some wonderful goodies, strawberry shower gel and body lotion, Mrs. Fields chocolates, a bath scrubby, dividers for your toes when you paint them, an emery board and one of those nice decorated boxes that I use for orts. Just look at my pictures.

I absolutely love it all! Marjean did a beautiful job. Thank you so much. This was great fun!

Another Exchange Out...

I am sending off my package for the scissor fob exchange on Hooked on Exchanging. I stitched a Mary Garry pattern on 32ct. raw linen over 1 and used DMC.

I also added a few extra goodies. A skein of Waterlilies, some chocolate and of course, a scissors (because we can't have enough)!

A Fob For Bianca...

I received the kit for this in the mail yesterday and had it finished by the end of the day. I had to show my stitching friends, who I was with tonight, before I could post it. I love it!
