A Thief At Heart

Yesterday was my good friend, Joan's, birthday. I surprised her by arriving at her house at 8 a.m. (which is VERY early for me these days) with her favorite beverage in hand, a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Cream Frappucino. At this early hour, I was already the 7th person to wish her a happy birthday. I even sang to her but didn't get any extra points for that. That was OK, 7 is MY number anyway.

After catching up a bit, as we haven't gotten together for a few weeks, I handed her birthday gift to her. You see about 3-1/2 weeks ago, I stopped to see her unexpectedly after attending a funeral which was pretty close to her house. She was not home :( However, her daughter, Kelsey, who I like to refer to as my partner in crime, was. So as long as I was there, I asked Kelsey to find me a couple of Joan's bins of projects. She very willingly obliged. I browsed through them a bit and found 2 items that I thought I could complete rather quickly. As she proceeded to open her gift, she not only did not miss these patterns, she didn't even realize that the were hers right away! Very fun!

Here is the first one I stitched.

Virtue Sampler
Little House Needleworks
32ct. Putty linen
Fibers as charted
Date started stitching: 2/26/2012
Date finished stitching: 3/9/2012

Yikes! This picture is not too good at I didn't realize it until this morning. Sorry. This was a fun stitch. I haven't stitched too much with these other overdyed threads too much so it was fun to watch them change. I did not frame this for her as sometimes with samplers she has specific frames for them so I wanted to be safe.

The second one I stitched and finished.

Friendship Endures
Lizzie Kate
30ct. Summer Khaki linen
GA Old Red Paint/DMC #3021 and #3685/
CC SecondHand Rose
Date started stitching: 3/10/2012
Date finished stitching: 3/11/2012
Date finished completed: 3/11/2012

This was ALOT of fun! I had a great time digging through my button stash to find the perfect ones. I love how it turned out. I will have to stitch this for myself someday.

We stitched for awhile, went out for lunch and continued stitching all afternoon. It was a very fun day and I think I did surprise MamaJoan!

Have a great day!

If I recall, this isn't the first time you've been a stitchy thief. Wonder if you could come by some time - I'll even leave the door unlocked with directions to my unfinished stash! Seriously, what a sweet gift for Joan, and what a good friend you are!
