A Strange Chilly Post

For the 2nd day in a row, the temperature was 22 degrees BELOW zero when I had to go out to work. The windchill was 38 degrees BELOW zero. That is COLD! I have lived here in Minnesota all of my life and I never remember such cold weather. However, it is always very cold on Martin Luther King weekend, as I have been going on a stitching retreat this weekend for many years.

This year is no different, except being more low-key. I am going to my BFF MamaJoan's for the weekend to stitch, stitch and stitch some more. If were lucky, CathyB might drop by for the evening to stitch awhile. It is so nice to have great stitching friends close enough to get together. I'm sure I will have updates to share as the weekend progresses.

On a completely different note, a very strange thing was in my mail today. Last fall, on September 15 to be exact, I mailed my HoE Halloween Exchange to Nic in the UK. After waiting almost 2 months, she never received it. I quickly put another one together and sent it to her which she received within a week. Well that exchange that was MIA came back to me today. Can you believe that? There was a sticker on it from the Royal Mail that said "never called for", which means, the addressee never came to pick it up? I'm very confused. I barely understand the US Mail system let along international mail. I am taking this with me on my weekend to share with Cathy and Joan. It is very strange.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, I know I will!

I'll not comment on the Royal Mail.

On the bright side you got it back! Think of it as a surprise present to yourself, from yourself.

I had the same thing happen to one of my exchanges this year. Who knows?

I know the weather is so incredibly cold. How do you stay warm?

Enjoy the weekend with MJ and CB!

That is too wild about the package!

I was born in MN and lived there for 25 years. I don't recall it ever being this cold there!!

Have a great stitchy weekend, and stay warm :)

Ahem. Not happy with Royal Mail ... what happens to parcels if they can't deliver is a card is left, and one gets to toddle down to the sorting office to collect it and all is well. That's the theory ... in practice of course, cards don't always get written or left somewhere visible (if we have a relief postie, they can't get in the building, and don't seem to want to bother) so one doesn't even know a parcel is waiting. Which is probably what happened in this case, as when I rang the sorting office to check, they weren't holding anything for me.

But - at least you got it back safely and I'm glad you will have an admiring audience for the package, as I'm sure it was lovely if the one the Royal Mail actually managed to deliver is anything to go by!

Have a lovely weekend, and keep warm :o)

A rather strange postal service.
Well, it's good your parcel was not completely lost.
